While on the Southwest Chief this week traveling from LA to Albuquerque I had the pleasure of observing "Linda" a crew member on the train. From start to finish, it was evident she was a hard worker that took her job seriously and with a great attitude. Toward the end of the ride there was an incident where an extremely unstable lady walking with three pronged cane took a fall. She was on the upper level and Linda was helping her get down to the lower level. She was so kind and understanding while I sat there wondering what in the world the lady was doing on the upper level anyway as the train pitched and swayed. Linda had no more got the lady down the narrow stairs than a little girl threw-up all down the stair case. Once again, Linda quickly cleaned up the mess while trying to comfort the child and her mother. Soon after that Linda announced to the car that we were arriving at the station and asked the passengers to please stay seated until we came to a full stop. The passengers lined up and crowded the isles while Linda repeated the request three times. The crowd didn't budge but just stared at her. :eek:hboy: She continued on with a smile on her face. Kudos for an outstanding employee!

If you call 1-800-872-7245, get a real agent on the phone, ask for Customer Relations, and pass along these positive comments, Linda may well be recognized for her efforts.

Your kind words concerning Linda should be directed to Amtrak. We are a community of rail travel enthusiasts, but we are not Amtrak. Use the "contact us" function at Amtrak.com, and be sure to give the date of travel so Amtrak can identify the specific employee.

Thanks for the suggestion. Actually, I talked to two other crew members about what I observed and neither gave me that information. I even asked about a place where we could offer this kind of input!! The other crew members DID agree with my assessment of her performance. I will definitely do that.
