We will have 20 people total for the 2nd trip on April 16. Filled out a group reservation form, and I guess I have to call back after 48 business hours so I would assume I call on Tuesday?
Also, will they try to keep us together in one car? We have 12 7th-graders and it would be best if we all sit together in one car.

I can remember my school district offering full day trips on the Pennsy from Washington DC to New York City in the early1960s. It was my brother's high school class and I got to tag along as a sixth-grader. Watching out of open Dutch doors on P70 coaches during the return after dark.

Hell yes. If you wanted to spread out in different cars they would try to prevent you! They want groups kept together, particularly groups with children.
Bet the adults are as excited as the kids. Seeing the Pixar exhibit.
When should the kids and I return to 30th Street Station to catch the #667 back to Elizabethtown? At least for this Saturday's trip--the group of 9 people. I plan to get back to the station at 3:45 to give everyone a chance to grab dinner at the restaurants in the station.
On Sat and Sunday #667 Arrives at 30 th St. Station @ 438pm/Leaves @ 455pm.
You know your group, but considering that they are kiddos, I would say that 3:30pm would be even a better time if you plan to eat in the Food Court.
If taking the food "to go" to eat aboard, 4 PM should give you enough time.
The 3:30pm time gives you time to order and eat,use the rest room etc. and then to line up to board without being rushed.

Kind of late to this, but a child fare (2-12) has to be booked with an adult fare. It also has to be at least 1 adult per two kids. Anything over that requires booking kids on adult fares. Group fares are more relaxed, where the kids can all get a child fare (before additional discount) as long as the chaperone requirements are met.
What obvious reasons? I have no problem using the <ladies> restrooms in PHL (never been to NYP except on the tracks or platform).
Well, Field Trip #2 is coming up this Saturday. We will have 21 people going: 12 kids and 9 adults. I am the group leader and will get on board first. Will the conductors be ready for us when we board? The last time we had a large group going, they did not expect us; we had 60 people. They simply stuck us in the Quiet Car (much to the disgust of the few passengers that were already in the car. I explained this to the group sales person, and she reassured me that the crew would be aware of our boarding at Elizabethtown.
Typical Amtrak " the left hand doesn't know what the right one is doing!"
Glad y'all got in tbe same car,sounds like a good Conductor! Hope the trip is fun, kiddos remember stuff like this!

Since I'm lost on this. Were you able to book as a group? Or single tickets?
See post #14. Looks like someone dropped the ball, again, in telling the conductor to expect them.
I wonder if the conductors and attendants may have just failed to look at the manifest. Now that I have a service dog, I make sure Amtrak knows I'm traveling with one. Sometimes both conductors and on-board staff are surprised when I get on.
Last week when I took Train 80, the Carolinian, from Richmond Staples Mill to Alexandria, two OBS employees (one a trainee, I think) met us at the door of the business class car and asked if we were the Kisors and told us two seats had been reserved for us with room on the floor for the dog. Clearly they had read the manifest.
On the other hand, the sleeper attendant on Train 30 from Chicago to Washington wasn't expecting us with a service dog. (He recovered quickly, though.)

The two field trips were a success! The kids and parents, as well as myself, had a great train ride. The Franklin Institute was fun, and everyone liked the Science of Pixar exhibit. A word of thanks is in order for the Amtrak crews of Trains 660 and 667 for being very accommodating of our group. The conductors of 667 said the kids were well-behaved, and they were glad to have us. I will have to do this again next school year!!
