That AQI information and the app about the fires were invaluable and reassured my GF that I would be safe. She does not understand that Los Angeles covers a lot of ground. I explained to her that I was changing my flight to fly into San Diego. Then, I used the app and the map to show that the fires were far away from Union Station and that Cajon Pass was far from the fires. The visuals of the maps helped her understand what was going on.

The Starlight is cancelled between LAX and SAC today 1/17 due to a fire near the tracks. I believe this is not related to the large fires in LA. Anyone have more details?

Edit: it's actually a lithium ion battery storage facility at Moss Landing that is burning. The tracks there within the evcuation area. https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/17/us/evacuation-fire-power-plant-monterey-county/index.html

So a fire but not related to the LA fires.

First thought was the "Auto Fire" in Ventura several days ago?
In the Santa Clara River bed.

Yes, Moss Landing is along the route and that makes sense.
