Haha i am sure i am in the vast minority. Just one of those things I carry with me, mainly because I took a bus one time (never ever ever again)

Hi,

As you can imagine, most tourists like to avoid trouble.. I am just concerned that I may be the only person aboard a Amtrak train without a concealed knife? I would like to go with the flow, so is it recommended that everyone brings a knife to protect themselves?

By no means is it "necessary".

I carry a folding pocket-knife when I travel purely for utilitarian reasons, not for self-protection..... Cut a string or rope, wine & cheese, gotta "cut-the-cheese", (couldn't resist), just a silly habit.

I used to carry a pen-knife on my key-ring, but after "donating" so many to the TSA, I am now dissuaded from doing so.

Sorry gotta run, gotta pack for tomorrow's trip on the Meteor!

I do not carry any "weapons" of any kind. I bring either folding scissors or children's scissors, just in case I need to cut anything. I am more concerned about accidently cutting myself than the need to protect myself with a cutting instrument.

Hi,

No worries, I was being a bit of a devils advocate, to see how the topic developed..

I wasn't sure if it was just Yogi who had the right to bear arms, or whether everyone could push back their sleeves...
