I've done a Spokane-Seattle roundtrip, Spokane-Portland roundtrip, and a Spokane-East Glacier Park roundtrip (all in one day). Last year I took a Spokane-Seattle-Eugene-Portland-Spokane trip that took two days. And all for no other reason than to ride trains. (And rack up a few AGR points ;) ).

taken a trip on the train without having a destination? just gotten on a train went for a ride in one direction, then turned around and rode another back?
Back in the '90's I went from Houston to San Antonio...slept in the San Antonio Train Station and went back to Houston the next day...I was younger and dumber back then...would not do that now although I go to stops on the Pacific Surfside just for the day.

Need you ask me?

Just 2 weeks ago, I went from CHI to CHI - via CVS, NOL and SAS! :p (OK, it doesn't meet the criteria, since I didn't just turn around! But it was CHI-CHI!)

I call it an AGR point run.

Got on the train at KWD - rode to WAH (one stop) walked around WAH, took the train back.

Did it again a couple of days later.

100 AGR points/leg, doubled and next trip gets triple points :)

My favorite points run: RVM (Richmond-Main Street) to RVR (Richmond-Staples Mill) and back. Eat dinner at either Ukrops, Shoney's, or Anthony and George's Steakhouse while waiting for the trip back! 300 points for only $10.60 (with NARP discount)
