Heull Howser does the CZ

I know it's last minute, but at 7:30 tonight (2/3), Huell Howser's show is about the Zephyr. He's on KOCE in Southern California.

He was on a Vista Dome attached to the CZ, talking to people about the 40s-60s era train. He talked to a Zephyrette, a former marketing mgr. for Western Pacific Railroad, a former brakeman, a passenger who was on the very first run of the train in the 40s, a woman (who was then a 12-yr old girl) who saved everything from her 1949 trip: the timetable, the menu, her ticket stubs, advertising materials, etc. Also lots of vintage footage (marketing and home movies) and photos. The show is available for purchase from calgold.com (it's show #610).

Also, look in the rightmost column of the homepage for "KCET launches Huell's Interactive Los Angeles Map." If you follow the link you can click on Union Station and view an 8-minute snippet of a show he did about LAUS.

I know this is an old thread.

RIP Huell Howser. He died on the 7th I think.

I remember Huell from his early days here in Tennessee and his work on WSM.

He was a class act.

Huell was an original. He seemed like the embodiment to the advice to be childlike but not childish. His obvious joy in the smallest and simplest of things was infectious and, yes, uhmaaayzing! But more than that, every story kept coming back to the people —the Californians— who, in his own words, were the real gold in the Golden State.

That Chapman college link has over 500 of his shows on it. I have watched about 10 in the past week. It's interesting seeing him go someplace you know well and having him find things that you hadn't noticed before or just be amazed by things that maybe you took for granted.
