Thanks to all your help I have booked my first trip Chicago - Washington - Kissimee

I booked on-line and have booked a roomette for both legs of the journey. My question is do you find out what roomette you are in when you collect your tickets at the station or can you find out beforehand?

I know it probably doesn't make any difference but I am a mad planner and I like to know as much info as possible

Thanks for any replies

It should be on your confirmation if you gave an E-Mail address. If not call Amtrak and ask them to send you an E-Mail of confirmation.
I've checked my e-mail confirmation and on the "my trip" section of the amtrak website and it just gives me my train times and that I have 1 superliner roomette and 1 viewliner roomette but no numbers etc.

I only booked it 24 hrs ago if that makes any difference.

Sorry if I am being a bit dim

Not to worry; you're not being a bit dim. The room numbers don't seem to appear on the confirmation emails any more. Please call Amtrak (800-872-7245), ask for an agent, give them your reservation number and ask which rooms you have. Then ask the agent to send a new email with info.

Enjoy your trip!

You can go on the Amtrak website and there's a place there to email Amtrak. Include your reservation number and they'll respond with your roommette number in a day or so.

We didn't know our roomette assignment on our recent trip on the CL booked in April 2010 until we printed our tickets in late August. Our room assignments were clearly printed on our tickets only.

Why would you want to email them and wait for a day, when you can call 1-800-USA-RAIL 24/7 and get the answer right now?

Thanks everyone I will e-mail today - not going to ring as I am in the UK and I have no idea how long they keep you on hold

Also thanks for the diagrams will be very useful with my obsessive planning!!

And when you get the numbers you can look at this diagram to see where in the car your room will be.
In looking at your diagram here, it appears that Bedroom A on the Superliner is a slightly different configurations than the other bedrooms. Has anyone been in this Bedroom versus the others to know the difference? I've got a Bedroom on the Southwest Chief this December and I'm curious as to whether I might want to avoid Bedroom A?

Bedroom "A" is slightly smaller than the other four upstairs bedrooms. Has to be because of the hall turn at the end of the car.

Ah - thanks for answering - I was posting a new topic about it the same time you were posting your answer.

Thanks. I had originally posted my question in here, but then immediately posted the new thread, thinking I'd get a faster answer. Little did I know you guys would be so on top of it! I'm going to call Amtrak now and verify which bedroom they have me in and make sure it isn't Bedroom A!

Let us know what you find out!

YAY! I'm in Room B - the agent even laughed when I said that I just didn't want to be in A and she said, "You didn't want to be cramped, huh?" so they must know about it!
