how much is car parking at Washington DC Union Station these days? (1 to 4 hours)

I seem recall that there's a self-validating machine which is good for a certain amount time, but can rembmer how long...?

My sister lives in DC but cant remember exactly how much the parking is, only it is not as "outrageous" as other parking in the area. Her thought is was 5 to 6 dollars a day.

According the website, the fees are as follows: (seems pretty cheap to me)

Parking Fees:

1st hr $6.00

2 hrs $9.00

3 hrs $12.00

3-4 hrs $13.00

4-5 hrs $15.00

5-12 hrs $17.00

12-24 hrs $19.00

24 hr periods $19.00

I just called them directly and was told that you can get your parking ticket validated

for 3 hours at just $1. However, if you exceed that, you'll be charged the full rate.

For example if you park 2 hours and 59 minutes and get your ticket valided, you pay only $1.

However, if you park 3 hours and 15 minutes, the validation is useless and you pay the full $13.(for 3-4 hours)

Guess they want to encourage people not to hang around the station unless necessary.

If we are talking about the parking garage on the northwest side of Union Station, make sure you know how to drive to approach it. I drove a rental car out of there last year, which was OK, but had a big pain in the posterior trying to find the streets to get back into the place. It is a bit obscure.
