NCDOT intends to run 4x RGH-CLT as soon as equipment and track improvements allow, probably within 3 years. Longer term the intention is 5x.

Otherwise, unless you propose that existing trains be discontinued in order to facilitate your plan, all that's needed is several hundred million for equipment, track improvements, and operating subsidies. Let me know if you find it.

Sure I also propose lots of new services. How exactly do you plan to have them started? I guess you happen to have a few hundred million dollars sitting in your account that you're willing to donate to Amtrak?
 
I believe every route operating April 30th 1971 should be restored and then some with hourly or better service on each line. Your point?

I believe that every address in the USA should be within walking distance of HSR, with one seat service to anywhere.

Now, as to your complaints, unfortunately Amtrak has not made a profit in years and ridership is plummeting. Moreover one need only read these blog pages to see stories of passengers being struck by trains, murders at the stations, and poisoning in the diners. It is unlikely there will be any private investment given these shortcomings.

I have never worked for Amtrak. As has been explained to you several times now, those labels (conductor, engineer, etc) are granted based on how many posts we have, not our job description.
 
Ridership plummeting? Passengers struck by trains? Murders in stations? Poisoning in the diners? Amtrak hasn't made a profit in years? (Try never). Boy, sure makes me want to rush out and take more Amtrak trips! :rolleyes:

If you want to advocate new or revised train services, if I may, I would recommend you don't need to post dense proposed schedules of each major stop and train. Your post is hard to parse and read.
As for some of your schedules, you need to consider connections to other trains. That drives the schedules for the LD trains in Chicago. For example, the Cardinal departing CHI at 7 AM would break same day connections with other trains in CHI and a lousy arrival time at the 2nd busiest station on its route, Charlottesville.

Many of your proposed new trains would be under 750 miles, so they are state supported trains and will only happen if the state government is willing to ask for and subsidize the train. VT may someday get a second train to St. Albans and northward, but in the form of a Boston to Montreal service.
 
Another piece of advice: If you need to post a timetable, use a code box (word "code" in brackets at the start and "/code" in brackets at the end), 4-digit timestamps (0130 for example), and consider using 24-hour time (0000 to 2359...I've defaulted to this to help keep times straight in my mind when adding/subtracting hours). It makes the text line up and be more easily readable. Using three-letter station codes as well minimizes the need for lots of spaces to line things up.

Have your state subsidize or pay for the train and you'll have them. Talk to your congressman, senators, state senators and state reps for that. They control the money.

Second, please know that this forum is not run by Amtrak, directly or indirectly. It has NEVER been run by Amtrak! It is a forum run by railfans for railfans.

Third, there are NO Amtrak logos to be found here as posting them would be a violation of Amtrak's rules and their lawyers would order us to take them down.

And finally, as has been explained many times to you but for some reason you fail to comprehend, the titles under one's name reflect the number of posts you've made here. Even you are now a Train Attendant! So I guess you too must work for Amtrak now. :rolleyes:

Yes, no one is denying that people have died in conjunction with accidents with Amtrak trains. That is NOT the point of contention here.

The point of contention here is your continued insistence that this forum is associated with and owned or operated in any fashion by Amtrak. Once again, WE ARE NOT AMTRAK! WE HAVE NO CONNECTION TO AMTRAK. AMTRAK DOES NOT ENDORSE THIS FORUM. AMTRAK HAS NO CONTROL OVER THE CONTENT OF THIS FORUM. AMTRAK DOES NOT PAY FOR THIS FORUM. AMTRAK DOES NOT OWN THIS FORUM.

While there are a few people who post here who do work for Amtrak, they are NOT posting on behalf of Amtrak. Their posts are unofficial posts that are NOT endorsed by Amtrak. Nothing that they say can be considered official unless Amtrak itself issues a press release on its website. A press release that will no doubt be copies and posted here by a member.

But once again, 98% of membership here DOES NOT WORK FOR AMTRAK any more than you do. The titles under one's name are based on post counts. In fact, some of the jobs listed don't even exist at Amtrak anymore. You will remain a Train Attendant until you have 50 posts; at which point you will be promoted to Service Attendant. Do you understand this?
 
I suppose those are supposed to represent evidence of Amtrak ridership plummeting, murders at stations, passengers being struck by trains, and poisoning in diners, right?

I see a number of topics about pedestrians and/or trespassers being struck by trains, but nothing about passengers being struck. Unfortunately people have been getting hit by trains, whether intentionally on their part or accidentally, as long as there have been trains.

I see a topic about a person being stabbed (not murdered) at a single train station. Unfortunately, crime occurs. Not too long ago there was a pretty sensational shooting at Los Angeles International Airport, but I would hardly suggest that airline travel is unsafe because of that incident.

I see a topic about a person who may have received food poisoning on Amtrak. Nothing confirming that story as completely factual.

And I still see nothing about Amtrak's ridership plummeting. (Probably because Amtrak's ridership has increased dramatically over the last decade or so.)

This. trainaddict's act was funny when it first started. It's now quite sad. I think he just wants attention and every time we respond, guess what? He is accomplishing what he is setting out to do.
