if and when has amtrak increased points for a particular redemption? for example, has a one zone roomette always been 15k? what are the odds they might raise award levels in the future?

There have been a handful of changes to rail travel awards, but not many. The biggest change was when NEC trains went all-reserved and costs doubled on those routes; shortly thereafter the Northeastern zone was introduced.

They also raised the points required for coach only travel by maybe 500 or 1000 points. But also they've created quite a few 'special routes' needing only 1000 points to redeem for. Luckily sleeping car points have not changed, and hopefully won't in the near future.

AGR has changed the available awards (adding/dropping things) more frequently than changing the number of points required.
