I am planning a "Loophole Trip" out of Kansas City next year and was wondering how expensive parking is by Union Station? I would need to leave a vehicle there for about 9 days and am also wondering would it be cheaper to park in Independence and come in on the MORR? Thanks!

Im no expert but 9 days parking by Union Station would probably be pricey, the River Runner sounds like a good idea IMHO! :)

I'd trust things better at KCY than Independence. Not sure why - at the IND station cars just sit out in the open. At KCY it is a new multi-level parking deck. And that part of town is pretty safe, and usually empties out at night. Just my 2 cents

Amtrak signage indicates long-term parking at Union Station is $10/day. I can't recall the last time I paid to park there, however. If you simply cannot get down there without a car (buses from all over the city run near there 7 days a week), I recommend parking at KCY instead of Independence (for the safety of your vehicle, as indicated above).

If you are indeed driving from Norman, check out Jefferson Lines (which handles the Tulsa/OKC thruway for the Chief). You can book direct to Union Station for one of their OKC > KC trips.

I normally park in KC when I'm heading out. I haven't had any problems at all.

Some times I've paid the toll, other times the machine was broken and the arm was put up so I didn't pay anything (darn!).
