Ok..so I've been watching the number of roomettes being offered. How does this work. I book my travel on March 10th,before the CHI to BOS sleeper car, since then they added the sleeper car. I booked the sleeper car from CHI to ALB, and coach from ALB to WOR. But now they are selling roomettes from CHI to BOS. What is the number of roomettes? Since I've book in March, my husband and I have roomette #1 in car 4811, are we going to have a problem with them double booking since the change? :lol:

Well, they can't book someone else in #1 between CHI and ALB. The best (or worst) they could do is book someone in #1 from ALB to BOS. But I think Amtrak would give you first shot at it.
If they haven't contacted you yet, I would call them to change it to CHI-BOS!

I don't want to change it because I got what I believe the the lowest bucket, and I think if I add from ALB to BOS I'll lose that.
That's why you call them and see if they will add the rest of the trip at that same low bucket. Never hurts to call. And, as we say around here, if you don't receive the answer you want from calling, hang up and call back. Different agents have different answers.
Call - explain to the agent what you want and that you want to stay in the bucket you are now in. S/he may be able to take care of you. If not, call again - the next agent may be more cooperative. Or stay with what you have - its not far from ALB to WOR - why pay for a sleeper for that short a trip?

4811 is one of the NYP sleepers so they would have to move you to a different car to go all the way in sleeper.
I noticed that on several dates in the near future the train between ALB will be a bus - so it makes no sense to upgrade. Check http://discuss.amtraktrains.com/index.php?showtopic=27181

Amtrak had been working its way through the confirmed reservations, and where possible in most cases has automatically been rebooking and reassigning rooms in the Boston bound sleeping car to passengers who were holding confirmed reservations for a sleeper to Albany with a transfer to coach.
So you may well find out that you've already been rebooked into the through sleeper. I suspect that they are giving priorit to those going all the way to Boston first, then if there are enough rooms left picking up those who are getting off before Boston. Therefore you may first simply wish to ask if you have been rebooked into the Boston sleeper, and then if not, find out if you can be rebooked at the low bucket cost.
If they have booked you into the through sleeper, you'll be able to confirm that by asking the agent for your new car and room number. The through sleeper's car number is 4820.

So wait, Darter is booked to WOR, but now that Amtrak has a through sleeper to Boston you want to make him ride all the way to Boston? :unsure:

Actually, my mistake - I missed the routing of CHI-WOR! I saw the CHI-BOS mention of the sleeper. (Everyone makes their first mistake!
