I jjust took this train from Chicago to NYC and they did not serve dinner. The lady in charge of the diner said no dinner even if they are several hours late into NYC.

Dinner is not offered eastbound but is westbound shortly after leaving NYC.

Out of NY, they typically have a 5 PM seating and a 5:30 PM seating. Then they shut down do to the power loss in Albany during the switching moves. Once power is restored, they do 2 more seatings for those that came from Boston and any who wanted a late dinner. However, I would not recommned trying to eat dinner between Albany & Schenectady, there really isn't enough time and if service is slow, you'll never see your food unless you miss your stop.
