We need to get to Greenport NY for a weekend wedding on Nov 9-10 (2024) I see that the LIRR schedule to Greenport via Ronkonkoma will change seasonally. Does anyone know what that schedule might be at that time, or which run might be discontinued? Coming from Lynchburg, VA, through Wash DC and NY Penn, obviously our Amtrak reservation choices will totally depend on that access to Greenport.

For a (2) day visit for a wedding, you should also review the Hampton Jitney North Fork Schedule.
They run far more trips to Greenport than the LIRR. Yes, you have to board them from the East Side, but you also can stow
your bags in their baggage bays, and for Greenport their are usually no transfers.
Their Summer vs Fall schedule usually only has minor adjustments as Fall is a huge tourist time on the
North Fork, such as Weddings. We lived in Peconic for 15 years and know the area well.

The OP is almost a year old, but alternate ways to get to Greenport are via Suffolk Transit's 92 bus. It is the longest run of a local bus on the eastern seabord. It runs from East Hampton to Orient Point Ferry via Sag Harbor, Hampton Bays, Riverhead, and Greenport. It runs at least every hour every day.
  • Take a LIRR Montauk train to Hampton Bays and transfer.
  • Take any LIRR south shore diesel train to Patchogue for the 66 bus to Riverhead and transfer.
  • Take the LIRR train to Port Jefferson for the 62 bus to Riverhead and transfer.

Or, if coming from New England, take Amtrak to New London, then the Cross Sound Ferry to Orient, and the 92 bus to Greenport…🙂
