In March, members of the Canadian comedy troupe LoadingReadyRun, who do a lot of work in video game-based humor, attended similarly themed conventions in Chicago and Boston on consecutive weekends. The two members that were sent to both conventions took the Lake Shore Limited between the two cities. Yesterday, a behind-the-scenes video log of the first night of their trip was posted. It looks like the rest of the trip will be covered in another video.

The first talk of the train takes until just before the 6:00 mark to occur with the actual train appearing around 15:00. Included in the video is a discussion of why they chose to take the train, their reaction to Chicago Union Station, especially the Great Hall, appreciation of the size of the beds in their roomette, and 'puzzlement' might be the word on their reaction to the in-room toilet.

I enjoyed this look at two non-train enthusiasts' first Amtrak ride. Hopefully with over 10,000 views in the first day, this video will encourage more people to look at taking a train.

Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed their appreciation of the Great Hall and their overall positive attitude. Wonder if it will survive their first night's sleep aboard Amtrak and then three LSL meals the next day.

Happy to see they were able to get beyond the perimeter of Union Station (i.e. Lou Mitchell's, Beggar's Pizza) for dinner at a highly rated Chicago restaurant, The Publican.

This video indicates that one is able to use the Metropolitan Lounge luggage storage area if one is in a sleeper. We are planning to come into Chicago via the SWC on a sleeper and leave Chicago a few hours later on the LSL where we will be traveling coach. Can we use the Metropolitan Lounge luggage storage area and other Metropolitan Lounge amenities?

Yes, you have access to the lounge the whole day since you are in a sleeper on the SWC.

Figuring out which car to board seemed to be confusing, understandably so. They were pointed forward with the directions "sleeper, business class" and commented "we're just sleeper, right?", later referring to bedrooms as "business class sleeper rooms." Imagine the disappointment if they find out what LSL business class really is.

I've always thought it would be much less chaotic to have a sign on the platform at each door, such as "board here for coach to New York" (and list other stops as applicable).

While a bit technical in some respects as to the electronics, it's a very good video that reflects one's experience on a Viewliner. Kudos to SCA Veronica; she did a good job in welcoming her guests.

A new video has been posted today showing the rest of the journey to Boston. The video starts with a morning view of an unknown location (maybe someone here recognizes it) before showing the time lapse that was being set up at the end of the first video. Video goes on to show a couple meals and a look at the shower. There's also a short discussion about trains they've ridden before in other countries with Canada, Japan, and England mentioned.

Overall, it definitely looks like they enjoyed it.
