Would like an update on availability to store a few bags at Denver's new station while we await arrival of #6 this August.

Probably will drop our rental car off in the late afternoon and then might want to explore around the city until our CZ 6 arrives at 7pm++.

I know some of the stations we have stopped at let us put bags back in the checked area for free, others have charged $3-4 a bag to do so. Not a problem either way as long as an option is available.

Looking forward to seeing the new station since I missed Gathering last year :(

Since Union Station has checked baggage should be no problem to " day check" your bags @ the baggage room! As you said, like all things Amtrak, you may or may not have to pay the $4 per bag standard Amtrak charge!( except in NYP and WAS)

Sometimes it is $4 for each bag, sometimes it is $4 for all the bags (at Emeryville they tied all the straps together and called that "one"). I've not seen them not charge at all, but I've never done it in DEN.

A lot of time the baggage room doesn't have change where there's a separate baggage room, so have some ones. At LA once I had to canvass the arriving passengers off the Southwest Chief to get change so I could leave my bags and walk up to Phillippes.

At Denver the last time, just after the new station had opened, the Baggage Room asked me to go to the ticket window and pay the fee. Whatever.
I was there at the same time and that is what I recall also. I am not sure what we paid, but it was something like $3-4.

There should be no problem with doing that, but not sure what the time limit is. When I get on the #6 there I usually arrive 2 or 3 hours early and check my bags in the check room while I walk downtown and have dinner, etc. Then pick them up again before boarding the train. I don't recall that there was any charge for this, but you probably should have a few $ handy just in case.
