I was on 10 mg Oxy for the last 4 weeks .. Oy ! nasty stuff but with out it I might have gone off the Deep end......
I had a 2ed knee job done ..
Ouch....I can relate. I ruptured my quadriceps tendon (the one that attaches your huge thigh muscle to the kneecap) on 2/14. I was on about all the aforementioned drugs (minus cannabis) for a few days post-surgery. I threw away about 50 oxycodone pills about a week later....took a long time to take a proper you know what. What kind of knee procedure did you have? Wishing you a complete and speedy recovery!

I totally love the http://www.dhmo.org/.

About the disadvantages of major opioid pain relievers there was this movie about trainspotters that was real dumb and i don't care about the directors Mumbai movie either but yeah - the pain of impacted bowels kind of overrides the minimal pleasure of the painlessness from that kind of dope.

dhmo.org is a real good place to lose your addiction to scare stories.

AND -- this tread has got to totally away from the advertised heading -- if anyone wants lets start an other one -- just like the other one -- "don't Bogart -- " maybe not even an Amtrak thread. Maybe on another forum.

Take care.

Yeah, I meant dhmo, duh.

I've met the guy who has that website. My daughter went to school with his daughter years ago. He has a large container of dhmo in his back yard and he let my daughter get in it.

Nah, that's the beauty of this place (and why I've stuck around for so long) - the mods have a great handle on when to let a thread wander and when to crack down.
If you'd prefer a heavily modded forum where power hungry authoritative moderators ensure strict compliance to seemingly arbitrary distinctions between threads/forums and an ironclad focus on whatever the OP wanted to discuss, the railroad.net forums might be a better fit.

You DIDN't -- OMG - yor own DAUGHTER ?? !! I won't call social services on you - but really - your own daughter -- with DHMO?

Seek help immediately.

Don't let the addiction go on. I - yes I confess - almost every morning I plunge into as much of the stuff as I can afford --

Often I actually DRINK the stuff. - Yeah -disgusting - I know --

BUT ONCE YOU GET HOOKED on drinking DHMO -

You wILL DIE if you quit.

No BS -- ACTUAL FACT.

TOTALLY AGREE -- !!

This is one of the best-modded forums I've ever come across, and for my money - extremely useful about train travel and all --

Mostly sincere and honest people here.

Love the place.

Hmm? Maybe that's why I don't drink DHMO - I don't do drugs. :)

(well, I do drink it sometimes, but certainly no where near as much as a lot of people)

No, this isn't about trains, but relates to previous posts.

Please don't equate taking a prescribed painkiller exactly as written for a bonafide medical condition to smoking pot to get high, or to any other abuse of drugs. It's inconsiderate to those who have medical conditions who truly need such drugs, as well as to their loved ones. They are not using them for recreation, and certainly do not and would not choose to have to have them. I don't even take Tylenol, but I'm blessed with much better health than many people are.

My husband had many medical issues, and at times he would have been in excruciating, unbearable pain without his medication. (And he was no wimp!) He asked his doctor one time why he heard so much about this drug on the news and that he didn't understand it. The doctor replied that it was because he took it exactly as prescribed and did not abuse it. Pain specialists had tried everything from electric gizmos on down. These powerful drugs are a blessing for some, and admittedly a curse for others. But don't lump them all together.

I know no one meant any offense, but these are two totally separate things that have only the word "drug" in common.

Consider this the "Sermonette of the Day." :)

Edit to add: Love the dhmo link. Hubby occasionally required IV administration of prescriptions containing a high percentage of this substance. Only an RN was allowed to do this, as not just any health care professional is qualified to perform that precedure.

While we have wandered quite a bit, I feel it was OK as it related to the reason a fairly regular member was missing in action.

However it is probably time to get back to the original subject.

Spoil sport! J/k :)

We need an "everything's off-topic thread". :p

All you would have needed was some Senna. Sold over the counter at any drugstore -- safe, gentle and effective to counteract that know side effect of most opiods.

I'll bet the guy that got taken off the train (In handcuffs) was at least a recreational user of DHMO...

I remember when I took Sunset Limited, both directions, due to the proximity of the boarder, INS came on board to do an inspection. Not sure what good that does since we all do not travel with our passports, but I understand why.

You should not take Senna if you are on a post-surgical blood thinner. Otherwise I would have.

Right you are. Taking ANYTHING if you are on a post-surgical blood thinner needs to be pre-checked carefully with your doctor and/or pharmacist.
