A 33-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a train in the tunnel north of King Street Station in Seattle this morning, according to Seattle police.
Police said the man was hit about 4:30 a.m. by a BNSF Railway train that was traveling north.

...

Police have not said how the man came to be on tracks, but detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad are investigating.
Amtrak is already not running at that location due to a mudslide moratorium.

Scott, it was a BNSF freight train, not an Amtrak train.

May this man RIP, and may his family heal from this loss. I hope the crew of that train will heal as well.

According to the quoted material in the article, the man wasn't dead--at least, not yet.
Although not quoted above, the story in the link now says that the man did in fact pass away. Most likely he was a homeless transient.
