Last week at WUS they starter gate n@z, I mean gate dragons for the MARC trains at Washington. The rollout was a bit of a screw up, as the signs were up, bUT no one stopped me to check my ticket. I haven't seen it since, as I haven't had to ride MARC in the evening since. They were also doing it in Baltimore, although no one was checking this morning.

What's the point of this? Have they been having a problem with fare jumpers, or have there been any security incidents? I hope this isn't a case of some manager with an overactive imagination being on a power trip. In any event, I'm not sure what this is going to do except annoy the paying customers.

I don't know about our governor. Fare increases, a disdain for funding transit, yet he still has money for this nonsense. I'm looking ford to the next election so we can kick him out.

While I'm looking forward to booting him too, I don't think that he has anything to do with this happening at an Amtrak-owned station outside of his jurisdiction.

Even though the signs are up, I've never seen them enforced during the evening rush (or at all).
