Martinsburg WV station parking

I use the Martinsburg station for my Amtrak trips 2-3 times a year. I had a bad experience where I purchased a parking pass from the city but arrived to find that no spaces remained due to illegal parking in the spaces meant for those with passes. The city staff don't care and obviously, although the city says they don't sell more passes than their are spaces, this is not true. Also I have not found safe alternative parking in the area (and I'm not sure how safe the station lot is even if one found a space).

I would be interested in knowing if anyone has found a solution to this problem. I use a transportation service to come and go from another city in the region, but that is expensive. I keep hoping Martinsburg will one day have safe, reliable parking for Amtrak passengers. Any suggestions?

IMO one of the reasons that Amtrak is not more popular can be attributed to the lack of parking at many ststions. Alexandia VA, Harpers Ferry WV, Martinsburg WV, Hagerstown MD, Atlanta GA etc do not have parking,or enough parking available. The solution is to look for parking in the area but many places want $20-$25 per day.
