John from RI
Train Attendant
About 10 days ago I needed to travel from New York Penn Station to Mansfield, MA. MBTA's Providence line made it easy. The line actually runs between Wickford Junction, RI to South Station Boston with a branch to Stoughton. In Rhode Island the train also stops at Theodore Francis Greene Airport in the Hillsgrove section of Warwick, Providence and Pawtucket/Central Falls. It then makes all local stops to South Station. The first train was 10 minutes late; retrurning it was right on time. At Providence tickets are sold at Cafe La France; however the Cafe seems to close about 2:30 in the afternoon. Aside from that the train is convenient for Rhode Islanders. And people in Massachusetts who want to use the TF Greene Airport will also find it convenient.
Service south of Providence is limited.
RIPTA bus no 66 connects Wickford Junction with URI and Kingston Amtrak Station.
