Was wondering how the Megabus works out. It leaves from CUS and goes to many cities. The price has gone up in the past year, but it now serves more places than it did a year ago.

The one experience I've had wasn't good. My girlfriend took the MegaBus from Chicago to Columbus last July. The price was cheaper than flying, but not a $10 seat either. Was wondering how the Megabus works out. It leaves from CUS and goes to many cities.
Probably not the norm. Look how many times Amtrak is late. The one experience I've had wasn't good. My girlfriend took the MegaBus from Chicago to Columbus last July. The bus broke down an hour north of Indianapolis. They were stuck on the side of the road for 4 hours. Given that they were less than 4 hours from Chicago, I'm guessing the replacement bus came from elsewhere. They eventually got into Columbus around midnight, for what should have been a 6PM arrival.
To MegaBus' credit, they did refund her full fare.

I have seen discussion on some other boards that it is working quite well. They even have some new double level buses. I communicated with a fellow who just took one from CUS to MSP. He said the ride was good (not as good as a train) and they made several rest stops along the way.
The good side to the service is almost direct travel between major cities. The downside is, no local service as trains have.
They are in California, now, too.
Sadly he's on the Carolinian, which also carries a baggage car limiting it's top speed. You might even get to experience 125 MPH if you're not taking the Regional Formerly Known as the Twilight Shoreliner (AKA #66/#67).
(That overnight train has a baggage car, and it is believed that the baggage car probably has 110 MPH trucks. Everything else used on Regional trains is believed to be good for 125 MPH.)
