Does anyone know if there are plans to lengthen sidings and add additional segments of double track on the Montauk Branch between Sayville and Westhampton?

Ridership has substantially increased on the Montauk Branch over the last few years, and delays are now ultra-common on Fridays and Sundays...

Perhaps the MTA can take out a RRIF loan for the next capital plan in a few years and finance these improvements, along with platform extensions in the Hampton's, to allow the the stations at Westhampton, Southampton, Bridgehampton, and East Hampton to all handle a minimum of 10 car trains, and perhaps 12 cars, which would probably reduce delays on the Friday afternoon Cannonball train, since it has 12 coaches, along with one locomotive pulling the train and another pushing it.

No to the sidings and double track, but signals are coming east of Speonk in a couple years along with interlocked sidings at Hampton Bays and Southampton. That should significantly reduce the mess of paperwork delays that come with every service disruption.

What kinds of signals are coming?

Will they look like the ones being put up in Harold Interlocking?
