Well my parents gave me the green light to use their vouchers on a day trip to Boston. My question is can I pay for a reservation with vouchers, then use the AGR upgrade coupons with that reservation?

Also, if I use a $50 on a $92 dollar Acela ticket from New York to Boston will I get any AGR points at all?

How "close" are you to your local Amtrak ticket agent? I mean, do you have any buddies working down at the station?

The $50 voucher is just like giving the agent $50 cash. So yes, you would receive AGR credit for the whole $92 ticket!

As far as the upgrade coupons, here is my experience from last month!

I booked AE Business Class from BOS-NYP for $93. I used an upgrade coupon to upgrade to Acela First! Because BOS-NYP is a select city pair, I earned 750 points - instead of 500! And all for $93!

Sadly, I don't know any ticket agents My "local" station is New York Penn Station, so no friendly faces.

Yeah, I am hoping I can get the 750 points for the great low price of $43. I wasn't sure if I could pull it off. I guess there is only one way to find out.
