Hi again,

One more question, please. Does anyone know if you can leave your car in the parking lot at MSP Amtrak station for 10 days? Do they charge? Thanks.

Parking is free and I do not see 10 days being a problem. The ticket counter issues dated permits.

You should talk with ticket agent and get a card parking pass, no charge. Just tell them the dates.

I have done this many times, never had or heard of any problems.

Have a good and enjoyable trip.

I forgot to ask, but is the parking lot safe at the St. Paul, MN. station if I leave my van there for 10 days? Thanks.

The station is in an industrial area, but I think it is relatively safe and have never seen anybody lurking around there that would be a concern. I've parked there five times in the last four years in excess of a week and have never had any problems. As long as things are out of sight, you should be fine.

I wasn't aware of the permit system. Never have had one, but it never was an issue either. Good to know for next month when we head to Arizona with the family.

I have probably parked in the lot at MSP a dozen times, including a three-week stint last month. I've never had any problems.

Make sure you arrive early enough to obtain your parking pass from the ticket counter. They don't like to give the passes out a head of time, but if I go just the day before my trip to pick up my tickets, some times they will issue me the parking pass.

Around holidays, the lot can be full. Either arrive very early, before the picking-up passenger people get there and park, or if you don't find anything when you get there, wait until the arrivals leave in their vehicles.

Have a great trip.
