New Select Status

I recently (last month) hit Select status with AGR. I was under the impression that once you hit 5000 TQP, you are a qualified Select member for the remainder of that calendar year and the next. However, I received an email from AGR stating that my select status would not begin until March of 2014. I have also taken a few trains since going over 5000 TQP and while the points have posted to my account, I have received no 25% bonus. Again, I was under the impression that this bonus kicks in as soon as you reach select. Has AGR changed their policy on this or should I call them to inquire? Below is a quote from the email I received. Thanks.

"Congratulations, you've reached Select status—more rewards and more recognition for one of our best customers. Your 2014 Select membership card, kit and ClubAcela® passes will arrive in late February. On March 1, your new upgrade and 10% off Amtrak travel coupons will be automatically added to your account."

That's really surprising and a complete change in policy and completely different than benefits received from others who qualified earlier this year! I'd call up AGR and complain, that's a huge change in policy to only give benefits over the benefit year (starting in March) and not as soon as you qualify.

For example, a friend of mine qualified for Select this year in August and he received a 2013 package with the usual 6 (3 Upgrade, 3 Club Acela passes) about a month after and I know his getting his 25% more bonus on the rest of his travel this year.

I'm Select+ (and recently re-qualified for 2014, the points have posted to my account, I got two, "your close to requalifying e-mails" but have gotten no "Congratulations You've Reqaulified e-mails") I went straight from nothing in 2012, first getting Select in June and receiving a 2012 card and membership package (with the upgrade coupons, one day passes ect.), I qualified for Select+ at the end of December and never got get a 2012 member package, just a 2013 one but was able to print out a temporary membership card and used it a number of times for ClubAcela access and even got into a UnitedClub without my new physical card.

I guess your e-mail does verify that all of our upgrade coupons will be electronic this year, no more remembering to bring them or stopping at the ClubAcelas/ticket counters!

Please go to the AGR Forum on Flyer Talk and Join (it's Free), then Post this Info so the AGR Insider (Very high Up in AGR)can Expedite Fixing this Obvious Mistake for You! As has been said, You're Qualified for Select Status until Feb. of 2015 and Should Already be Getting your 25% Bonus Points on Amtrak Travel and your Coupons and ID Card(Temporary)! I'd also Call AGR and have the Agent that Answers get the Ball Rolling on this SNAFU! If you happen to get an Uninformed Agent or a Dr. No Person ask for a Supervisor! Let us Know what they Tell You and the Outcome which should be Positive!
