No More Stops at Amsterdam, NY?

Amtrak's reservations system indicates that fewer trains now stop at Amsterdam, NY. When did that change? It seems like it happened when Irene went through.

Repairs have to be made to station and platform as all were under water from Irene.

Wow.

We can only hope that Amtrak chooses to fully restore this classic piece of American railroad architecture.

Jokes about the toolshed aside, it's incredible when you see where the water line was at the peak of the flood.

I was taking the Maple Leaf to Toronto and was confused but also tired when they made us switch trains at Amsterdam hours before we crossed the border. Trees were knocked dowdown over the tracks and we would've been delayedelayed further out of New York if thy had waited to clear it so they took us as far as Amsterdam before making us switch to another train on the other side of the tracks before we continued to Toronto

The water line on the bricks shows that over 50% of the station was submerged. It shouldn't be a hard repair as the station is tiny and might just need a good cleanup.
