For what it is worth I just wanted everyone to know how happy we are to be heading south on the Autotrain. It looks like we will have an early departure! Room is very clean which makes my wife happy (and we all know the importance of having a happy wife)!

I think we might be on the same train! You're on 53, today? I and my father are on it right now...I'm sitting in my roomette as I write this...

It's so nice to be back on an Amtrak LD train. It's been too long...way too long.

Here's hoping you both have a safe and enjoyable trip!

Tell me about it!

Last October, I was on the same trains (EB and Cardinal) from SEA cross country with another AU member - and were were both in a sleeper - and we did not "meet" each other until we were in WV! We even ate 3 meals together on the Cardinal before we met!

So what car and roomette number? We arrived early (by three hrs. relative to schedule) so maybe I could stop by and say hello before departing.

Just an FYI...I did get to meet "rnizlek" if only long enough to say hello. They just called my vehicle number and on the way to the car my wife, who had seen the pictue posted by "rnizlek" on his profile, saw him. I went over to say hello and we had a brief but pleasant meeting.

Yes, I was pretty impressed that you picked me out of a crowd! It was nice to meet another AUer out on the rails (even if our actual meeting occurred only after we detrained). We were in car 5343...I'm assuming you were elsewhere. It'd be pretty ironic if we rode the whole way in the same car without running into each other...but clearly it wouldn't have been the first time!

I met an AU'er on the Texas Eagle two years ago traveling from Chicago to Dallas. We ate breakfast together, then at lunch we met two

other AU'ers at lunch. I usually check the AU travel schedule here before I take a LD trip.

Is there a AU travel schedule somewhere here on the board that I haven't found before? If so where?

Never mind, DUH on me! Member Amtrak Trips didn't click the first time I looked.

This is a good reminder if you want to meet other AU'ers. Rnizlek actually had his trip posted. Had I checked the Memebr Amtrak Trips forum before boarding I would have known he was on the same train. Always something to learn.

I've looked and looked, but can't seem to find "Member Amtrak Trips" anywhere. I'm sure it is hiding in plain sight. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm taking a long trip next summer and would like to meet other members if they'll be on the same trains. :)

I think you may have to reach 'Member' staus to see and gain access to the 'Member Trips" area. Keep posting and you'll be there soon!

That is correct. We wanted people to feel comfortable and secure about posting such information, such that they didn't have total strangers just showing up to knock on their bedroom doors without any warning. Therefore one must have made enough posts of substance to allow us to get to know you before you gain access to that forum.

Be sure to read the "Rules for Posting in this Forum and For Security" under the "Important Topics" section before posting your trip. This will help you to format your post and keep you from divulging any personal info. These are things you normally wouldn't think about.

Thanks everyone - I read the board every day, but only chime in when I have something significant to add. :)
