I am planning to perhaps take a trip from Miami, FL to Elizabethtown, PA using my guest rewards points. I am looking at taking either the Silver Meteor or Silver Star train, and getting a Roomette. About how many points would this require? I am confused by the travel chart; not sure if the Northeast Zone and Eastern Zone count as two separate zones.

Just to clarify Ryan's answer, the Northeast Zone should only be counted if BOTH of your origination and destination stations are completely in that zone. (For example - Boston to Washington.) If one or both are outside that zone, only count the Eastern Zone. (For example - Buffalo to Miami.)

May I suggest the Meteor instead of the Star for this particular trip? The Meteor gets into Philly in the morning, so your connecting train will get you to Elizabethtown during the day. The Star, even if it arrives on time, gets to Philly in the evening, and you will be connecting and getting to Elizabethtown at night.

Plus, there are a bunch of Keystones during the day, so if one got cancelled or delayed (rare but it could happen), there will be more coming along.
