On November 20th, I traveled on the Silver Star (91) from Orlando to Lakeland and was met at the station by Shanghai, Mrs. Shanghai and the famous Archie. Shanghai recently moved to a retirement community in Central Florida and I went to visit him and his wife and, of course, Archie. We had a nice lunch and a tour of the community, which is lovely. We posed for photos with the golf cart that is mandatory in the community. They then drove me back to Lakeland to catch the Silver Star (92) back to Orlando.

The trip back was short, but very entertaining. When I found my seat, my seat mate looked at me and said "oh no" and laughed. She then moved her stuff off the second seat and we chatted. After a few minutes of chatting about diner food, sleeper cars, etc., I went to the cafe car and had an adult beverage. I was sitting in the same side of the cafe car as the conductor and assistant conductor. A few minutes after I arrived, a woman stumbles into the cafe car (from coach) and talks to the conductors. I pretty much heard the entire conversation and will use different language than she used. She admitted that she was drunk. She also said she could not find her luggage. The conductor asked her a few questions in a very calm non-judgmental voice. She did not remember her seat number and she thought she was in the coach 2 cars back, but was not sure. She also offered the conductors additional information that she later referred to as TMI. She had not "seen" her boyfriend in 6 months and was on her way to see him in Kissimmee. (You had to be there - the situation was very funny - or maybe it was not so funny and Sierra Nevada just made it seem funny). I think the conductors had a difficult time suppressing laughter, but were very professional. The assistant conductor escorted the woman back to coach. I have no idea if luggage was found. When I later returned to my seat, my seat mate and women across the aisle told me about the drunk woman who could not find her luggage. Apparently she had visited every coach.

I will attempt to attach a photo of me and Archie in the golf cart and Shanghai standing next to it.
