My bookmark for the real time train tracker doesn't work anymore. The link on Amtrak.com works fine though. Does someone have the url for the direct link again? Thanks.
What were talking about is a direct link to the tracker map withOUT having to go through amtrak.com.This link to the routes page just worked for me.
Hmm, direct linking works for a lot of these live-update sites, but I'm not sure about the Amtrak Train Tracker. I'm not planning an Amtrak trip, so I don't need to use it.They seemed to have redesigned the site as to not allow direct linking. If you view the frame that pops up, you get a 404.
That's a good start. But how do I set up a link on an existing page with HTML or javascript to set up that referer without using a plugin? The train tracker is looking for an HTTP Referer of http://www.amtrak.com/home. There are browser plugins that allow you to specify the referer that you want to send to a particular site. I just tried one called Referer Control in Chrome that seems to work fine. If you want to try it, your settings should look like this:
It just worked for me.I can't even access it now from Amtrak.com. It is currently unavailable. CJ
Using the plugin, is the url to get to the tracker still the following:The train tracker is looking for an HTTP Referer of http://www.amtrak.com/home. Dang IT !! One more rather annoying new problem with this new so called "FIX" is that
NO more LIVE GPS train status.
The data for Everything seems to be DELAYED 30 minutes at least--if not more.
EDIT for some eastern trains the data seems to be within 5 to 10 minutes.
EDIT other california and western trains GPS data seem to be about 30 minutes old
Prior to this annoying so called software FIX Train data info WAS current within 5 to 10 Minutes.

I'm not seeing what you're seeing. When I check a few trains right now, they all seem current within about 5 minutes. The longest delay I can see is 10 minutes.Dang IT !! One more rather annoying new problem with this new so called "FIX" is that

I get an Amtrak error page when using that link. Does it work for anyone else?It looks like they changed how it is handled. I don't know enough about coding to decipher what needs to be done this time; last time it was fairly simple. The URL http://www.amtrak.com/train-routes/trainlocationmap should be the correct one, but if I had to guess there is some script that has to pull the data off from that page.

Look back to post #10 in this thread.Any update on a direct link? Direct link sure makes it easier to use on my iPhone. The http://www.amtrak.com/trainlocationmap does not work either for me.
