Red Cap Service

Hope this is in the right location. We (the wife and i ) are heading on our first cross country trip Lake Shore Ltd and Empire Builder New York to Seattle. We plan to take NJ Transit North Jersey Coastline to Penn Station. dose anyone knowf if i can get a red cap to help with our bags from NJ Transit platform. Thanks

Redcaps generally don't meet NJT trains, so I'd say that it's unlikely that you'll be able to get one unless your train just happens to arrive across the platform from an Amtrak train.

Most likely you'll have to get your stuff upstairs first, before you can find one.

In theory he could radio PSCC to ask for one. But whether he/she would is debatable. And even if they were willing, whether one would come is another matter. If it was a slow time for Amtrak arrivals & departures, you might have a chance. But if the arriving NJT train pulls in during a busy period for Amtrak, all the redcaps might already be occupied.

Your best bet would be for one person to stay on platform with bags, and other person go upstairs and find available redcap. Just remember to check what track you arrive on, to find your way back.
