Sound Transit CEO Earl to retire in early 2016
When Joni Earl took over Sound Transit (in 1997, I believe) there was considerable skepticism that the agency would survive. It had lost the first referendum on funding light rail, and ground had not yet been broken. But Earl has proven to be a very successful leader, bringing projects in on time and under budget, and has managed to coordinate a huge board made up of elected officials, while also running a successful bus, light rail, and commuter rail system. As a Seattle transit rider, I say thank you to Joni for making it all happen.Sound Transit's board has begun a process to search for a new chief executive officer, following CEO Joni Earl's announcement that she will retire in 2016.
