Hi All,

I would like to use one of my 10% off coupons that I received as a Select member to book a trip containing sleeping car accommodations. I noticed that there is a line stating "Valid for upgrades to Business class seats upon full payment of applicable accommodations charge. Not valid for sleeper accommodations." Does anyone know if:

1) Can I still apply the 10% off towards the coach portion of my fare and pay for the sleeping accommodation? Or does that statement mean that the 10% off cannot be used at all when there is a sleeping accommodation present?

2) What would happen if I booked the trip in coach with the 10% off coupon and then attempted to pay for a sleeping car upgrade?

Thanks in advance for anyone's replies.

I believe it means that they can't be used at all if there will be sleeper accommodations. I wouldn't be surprised if they only allowed an upgrade to sleeper accommodations with a payment of the discounted amount.

It might just be easier to book with something like a AAA discount. About the only advantage I see to the 10% welcome discount is that there's no 3-day advanced purchase required.

If you want to book a Sleeper you will pay the Current Bucket charge for the Room and the LOW Bucket Coach Fare minus any regularly offered discounts, such as AAA, Senior, Student, Military etc.

Thank you for the responses. It looks like I will not be using these coupons for the sleeper portion of my trip. Unfortunately, I am not a AAA member so I would not be able to take advantage of that discount either. Not a big deal, I can always utilize those 10% coupons for some Cascades trips I am planning. Does anyone know how they work for business class upgrades (i.e. is the 10% taken off the complete coach+business fare or is it only 10% of the coach fare with me paying the regular business class surcharge that anyone else would)?

Thanks again.
