Does anyone know if the Silver Star is running with two or three sleepers this time of year? Also, does it usually use three or four coaches?

Thanks!

This isn't going to help much. The answer is yes. I have seen it with both two and three sleepers (I suspect the third is part crew dorm, perhaps part revenue) and with three and four coaches. I seem to remember three coaches on one direction and four on the other on May 10 when we took 91/92 to Tampa and Back from WPK. I don't remember offhand which had 3 and which had 4, though. I think the norm is 4 coaches. I'll have to listen to the Longwood DD transmissions when we get back from our little holiday trip. The number of axles usually will give you the answer, although with a grain or two of salt, as they sometimes will have just one engine, and that would lower the axle count.

Generally, the Silver trains have 2 locomotives on the head, although sometimes you'll see a one-hit wonder. 91 and 98 have 3 sleepers, and 92 and 97 have 2, and most of the time, 4 coaches will be hauled. From what I've seen, the variations in the number of coach cars far outdoes the variations in the number of Viewliners in the consist.
