I had this commissioned at a convention of internet-based artists last weekend. I'll try and get a better scan of it up in the next week or two, but I thought you'd enjoy it.

Just another typical weekend scene on Metro at the New Carrollton station. :)

I say weekend because of the 'scheduled maintenance' notice. :(

The dirt on the seat from the dwarf's boot is a nice touch. Speaking of which, that car must have just gone into service, as there is no trash strewn all over the place... :p

Edit: Another 'L' added to Carrollton - with a nod towards Ryan. <_<

Nice.

Two quibbles:

>New Carrollton is spelled with two Rs.

>The Red Line doesn't go to Virginia. It stays in super-blue Montgomery County, Maryland (and Washington, of course).

In looking at the drawing again, I think the elf is saying "If you don't get that boot off my seat..."

Hence the dwarf's snear.

The halfling is like the vast majority of Metro riders, thinking "Oh no, not more Metro drama! I just want to get to my destination peacefully and quietly. I could use a bit of a rest."

Why New Carrollton as the station stop? New Carrollton is above ground, so there should be scenery through the windows. DC Metro has station names that are more in tune with the Elf, Dwarf, halfing.

Forest Glen - deepest station in the system with elevator access only to world above. The dwarfs live down below, the Elves in the forest above. And don't get along.

Shady Grove - where the halfing is headed to, of course.

Crystal City?

Capitol South - dangerous place on the way to Mordor of course.

Foggy Bottom - Not sure how this works in a Lord of the Rings motif. Perhaps a hobbit hangout that people don't discuss in polite company.

Unfortunately the name chosen for the Rt. 28 station on Phase 2 of the Silver Line was Innovation Center. One of the candidates was Coppermine which could work nicely in a LOTR motif.
