South Station Boston has become an embarrassment to Amtrak but the blame goes to MassDOT who owns the station.

I took the Acela to DC on Monday for a work assignment and the station was not a pleasant experience but still better than BBY (Back Bay) but BON (North Sation) controlled by Delaware North is the best of the 3.

BON is a commuter station that happens to have one Amtrak service - the Downeaster - using it. They have implemented the "ring of steel" fare gate system so if you need to use the rest room or want something more than what a Dunkin or a newsstand can provide you have to go out then scan your ticket to get back in. I think BOS will be better once the interminable construction is finally finished.
