Southwest Chief Has Wifi

Southwest Chief has WiFi onboard. Not sure about coach but it was available in the sleeper. In each, room there is a seat check with the password handwritten for you to login in. I did not try it out since I had LTE connection 99% of the time. The WiFi is a Verizon MiFi NOT Amtrak Connect service.

I think he was on #3(2). You may get delayed in CA if you have to pick up the engine his train dropped off on a siding. Then again, maybe #4 will be picking it up.

No, I was on #3(2). Yes that is the WiFi info. I'm guessing only sleeping car passengers are given access.
