So, I received my tickets the other day for my July trip. The Shreveport to Longview leg is by Thruway bus. Now, I've read that sometimes it's a Greyhound, sometimes a 'charter-type' coach. I'm pretty sure it will be the charter-type, as I catch it at a local casino, not the Greyhound station. So, my silly question is: How will I spot the right bus? Will it say "Amtrak" in the destination window above the windshield? How are they usually designated?

According to Amtrak, the service is provided by "C.J.Limo". So maybe it's not really a bus, but a van or limousine? Your Bus Stop is said to be in the "Bus Lobby" of the Casino. So I'd be there (in plenty of time), and for any vehicle pulling in (or hanging around...) that MIGHT be yours (ie not labelled definitely as going somewhere else instead), just ask the driver. "Is this the connection to Amtrak at Longview?" If he likes your ticket, that's a good sign too. (No other company would have any use for a lifted Amtrak ticket.)

When the right one does arrive, then you will know the answer to your question, and can tell us!

I believe it is a 15 passenger van to be picking you up. I just remember going through Longview on the train, and seeing the Houston bus along with a van which I assume was going to Shreveport.
