Me thinks some AUers are long overdue for a train trip based on posts I've been seeing here the last few days. :giggle:

I certainly know that I am overdue, even though I did go to WAS for NTD 2 weeks ago.

:) My rather boring Saturday night of spring cleaning recently turned "exciting." The fire alarm went off in my 17 story condo building and most of us evacuated (all of us were supposed to, but some refuse). Some people were in their pajamas, but I was still dressed. I live on a low floor and it was pretty easy to get out. The fire department came and could not find anything wrong so we are back inside.

I haven't been on an Amtrak train since Thanksgiving. :( I hear it go by several times per day, which makes it even worse. We've been to Chicago a couple times since then, but we drove since the buckets were insaaaaaane.

I'll be going to Bellingham on Monday, and it's a good thing that I already had the tickets before the bridge collapse. I suspect the trains will be packed.

...take the train, of course!

Me! Me! Ive done Double Point Runs to Taylor and Temple but havent been on a LD Trip since Feb. when I rode on a Cascades from SEA to Vancouver, BC. Then the Canadian from VAC-TWO, then the Maple Leaf to Utica, LSL to CHI, TE to AUS!!! It was a Short Trip!! :p

I got my "fix" on NTD going to WAS (about 1-1/2 hrs each way). Still hope to do a day trip to Boston this year. And have my trains booked for the Gathering.

i took my trip to austin and met that

wacky tabacky smoking jim hudson in april

but this summer i plan on takeing day trips

to ann arbor for fun, i get stur crazy being home

i miss amtrak

I'm going to go on a CHI day trip this week - I'm having serious train withdrawal.
I was fortunate enough to have gone on 3 wonderful LD roundtrips this year but my next one won't be until Sept :(

Train travel, actually travel in general, is too busy/crowded and a bit more expensive in the summer, imo.
Outside of day trips to CHI, I'll hang out at home, on the deck at the pool, this summer. :)

I really wanted to do some day trips since I have a three-day weekend, but I've been so sick and buckets are stupid-high since everyone wants to go to Chicago for Memorial Day. Feh. ;)
