I had lunch with Shanghai and his wife today in Haines City, Florida. Although I drove a car to Haines City, it was sort of a train related trip since Mr. and Mrs. Shanghai traveled from New Jersey to Florida by train and we talked about trains at lunch.

I haven't taken an Amtrak trip for nearly 10 months, since early July of last year. And have another 4 1/2 weeks to go for my next one, a Spokane-Portland-Seattle-Spokane loop trip. And in August, a Bloomington-Seattle trip via the TE and CS is in the works, and in September, a Spokane-Washington DC trip is in the works, via the EB, CS, CZ, and the Cardinal. So I will be making up for lost time. :)

I haven't been on a train since Monday - on the Silver Star to Winter Haven.

I will be on the Silver Star on Wednesday to New York.

I did have lunch with the Florida Princess, if that counts!!

It's been a month since my last Amtrak trip and I'm back looking a schedules for ideas. One thing I hope to do soon is take my grandson on his first Amtrak trip.
Stan: Consider the Hill Country Flyer from Cedar Park to Burnet! My 11 Year Old Grandaughter Loved it!! (of course you know the Eagle Route so theres always that Option too! ;) )

Going outta my gourd trying to get my EMT Card in four months (240 hours of class) while doing my regular job and volunteering on the ambulance. I haven't been on any train but a subway since October! I need some train time bad. Starting to look longingly at the timetable.

Yes, I'm way overdue.

I bought some furniture, too. And I have a dog-child.

Anyway, now I'm afraid to step onto a train, because I:

a. can't travel southbound in the South

b. can't travel northbound in the South

c. am not a convict

d. can write my name

I'm screwed.

You guys make it sound like you have so bad. I haven't on Amtrak since the summer of 2006 when I went from Jackson, MS to Denver. That's nearly 7 years! But thankfully, I am leaving on our 10 day journey tomorrow.

WOW! Lots of us were semi-joking but some of us (the Guilty shall remain unamed)would Live on LD Trains if we had the $$$ or the Points! :help: Look forward to your Trip Report, I'm Envious!

and don't forget, if you find yourself in Boston, you cannot go westbound, you have to swim around the world to catch a westbound train.

Way overdue for a train trip... January was a long time ago! :giggle:

If I could justify the massive loss of time and the over-the-top expense, I'd take Amtrak California to work and back. There is an AmBus stop right out front of my station in Leggett! I'd be risking a lot by doing it, though.

Leaving Saturday for EB trip #21. Four days at a nice hotel in PDX, then Cascades up to SEA and home again on the EB.

It was two weeks ago yesterday...  :help: Only went WAS-BAL r/t to see the Os loss to the Padres, but even a short ride helps ease the pain.  I'll be off to PHL for lunch in less than two weeks, so that is keeping me hanging on!

No good cheese steaks down your way TDC? :giggle:
Eureka! Yeah, that is it! :) THAT is how I'll explain going to PHL for 150 minutes to people who don't understand my disease... :p Yeah... I'm going to PHL for cheese steak. ;)

For some reason folks seem to be a whole lot more understanding of addictions to certain foods than to intercity pax rail.

I'm mostly just stir-crazy in general. We haven't left the state since Thanksgiving (I don't count Chicago since it's *right there* and feels local to me). Thankfully, we're going to SF in a week. I cannot WAIT. I haven't been on a plane in three years, and I haven't been to California in seven years. I've never been to SF, so I'm really excited.

TDC, that sure is an expensive cheese steak.

Next time you want a cheese steak, maybe you could order a delivery. I'm sure Steve or I would be glad to deliver it if you pay all costs (I'd need to go up to Philly to get the cheese steak).

Hey...if you like GREAT seafood, check out this place. Little hole in the wall, but a local tradition. Neat neighborhood as well.
