SWC - KC to Chicago

I'm boarding the SWC at 7:45 a.m. Weds morning and arriving Chicago around 3:15 p.m. (Only if SWC is running on time of course).

I have reserved a sleeper for the day. Since I'm boarding early morning, will they be serving breakfast? I'm assuming lunch will definitely be included, but I didn't know about breakfast.

I believe breakfast goes until 9:00, so if the train is on time, or close to it, you should be fine.

And if I remember, lunch is an abbreviated or limited service.

I have taken that route and we had breakfast as soon as we boarded the train.

Two things about this great trip. Because you are in sleeper both meals are paid for. Also when you arrive in Chicago you can use the first class lounge. Most days the SWC is early into Chi.

Where are you departing from? The SWC leaves Los Angeles to CHI at 6:15 pm, first meal is dinner.
