SWC3 in Long Term Service Disruption in ABQ

With the long delay at ABQ there should not have been any reason that Amtrak could have gotten some kind of catering including the possibility of airport catering. Oh wait not invented here ? Now if Amtrak still have route managers ?

It would be interesting to find out how they actually handled the dilemma for the passengers. We are all talking on speculation; although the policy in the past for emergency rations was that Dinty Moore Beef Stew.

And since there was a needed breakfast, perhaps they did board some stale roles to hand out. With a pat of butter? That would have necessitated a plastic knife and a napkin. Naw... c'mon, this ain't the Ritz!

Man that looks good. I love KFC with the mashed potatoes and gravy. Here that's like the McRib - returns to the menu every couple of years. Most of the time we have to settle for their french fries, which are by far the worst of any fast-food chain.

Amtrak management spends big bucks to mass produce those nasty flex meals... the crew can buy one for $25. Huh? But do they??? In my 'dreams' they would give that food contract to KFC!

It was likely coming from the shops in Beech Grove. When significant maintenance is required, corridor equipment is often transported there via deadheading on revenue trains through Chicago.

Good point but still kinda' wondering especially with this particularly late SWC train ... noticing all the lights in that car are on.

Maybe they didn't lock the doors and a bunch of pax decided to have a party???

Still an unanswered question because it appears to be abutting the baggage car is beyond the transition car which means that there was no through passage on the upper level. The transition car has an upper level vestibule on the end connected with the passenger cars and a low level vestibule to connect with the baggage car.

So who is in that surfliner car and why are the lights on and how did they get there???

Nothing wrong with a little mystery aboard the late late SWF.

Are we looking at the same thing? The Surfliner appears to be between two Superliners. I can’t even see the baggage car in the photo. Incidentally, when cars are deadheading, they are often placed at the front of the consist, behind the locomotives and ahead of the baggage car. Either way, there will always be some lights on in the car, because the emergency lighting never shuts off (until either the battery dies when not on power, or the lights themselves burn out). If the full lights are on, it’s just because whatever crew worked on the car last didn’t turn them off.
