TE 21/22 Detour extended

I just learned that the detour between Taylor and Longview has been extended through the 29th of June. Guess the work east of Dallas is taking longer.

I hAven't seen it in writing from Amtrak but Station Agents and OBS/T&E Staff say its on!

Track work being performed by Union Pacific will affect Texas Eagle service through June 29, 2017, as follows:

Booking Sleeping AccommodationsOn the dates indicated below, customers making reservations for Texas Eagle sleeping accommodations to/from Mineola, Dallas, Fort Worth, Cleburne, McGregor and Temple, should speak with an Amtrak representative at 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245), or at your local Amtrak ticket office.

Service Changes through June 22, 2017 Train 21/421: Effective through June 22, 2017 - Busing Between Longview and TaylorThrough June 22, 2017, the following changes will be in effect:

• Trains 21/421 will detour between Longview and Taylor and will not make stops at Mineola, Dallas, Fort Worth, Cleburne, McGregor and Temple. Bus service will be provided to and from those stations.

Why does it have the part about people who have sleeper bookings? Is that so they can refund part of the amount where you will be on a bus instead of your sleeper?

Anyone know how long the bus ride is between Fort Worth and Longview?

Still holding on to hope it will be done before our trip.

Question is if the bus from FTW will go direct or if they go as a group stopping in Dallas. It is approx 165 miles so maybe less than three hours unless the bus does all th stops.

When I was bustituted from Longview, they has separate busses to Dallas then Ft Worth and 1 nonstop to Ft Worth.

When I rode #22/#21 last week AUS-LVW-AUS there were 3 Buses at the Austin and Longview Stations.

In Austin there was a Non-Stop Express Bus to Ft. Worth, a "Local" for Temple,McGregor,Cleburne, Mineola and Dallas and the 3rd Bus was a backup Local if needed, but wasnt that day.

At Longview, there were also 3 Buses on the Platform, with the same Schedules in reverse. (Plus the usual Houston and Shreveport Thruways in the Parking Lot).

I asked the Agents about Sleeper Procedures and Refunds/Adjusted Fares are being done for pax booked to the stops on the Thruway Route.

We have a paid trip outbound and points trip in return. Surly they will be done before our return, but will they now refund points for something like this? I know under AGR 1 they would not.

The chances of getting Point refunds under AGR2.0 are Slim and None.You will get a Goodwill Voucher(Negotiable) if you have to Bustitute on your return but Don't think the Reroute will last that long!( But the Revised-Temporary Schedule Might/I'd ask!)

As for the Paid trip, Amtrak will waive anyrefund penalties since its not your fault and give you your choice of a partial refund or a voucher for the Bustitution portion of the trip. ( ie meals missed, riding a bus instead of being in your room etc.)

29th was the last day for 22 but 21 last day was the 22nd I think.

I was on 22 (28) so we arrive STL before 6 because of the detour, so they make us sit until we are almost 30min late for the normal schedule. One Conductor said they wanted to have the Diner finish Breakfast before the train left STL, which seems hard to believe. They did announce that no breakfast would be served upon leaving STL.

That's a change for #22/STL used to be Last Call for Breakfast for those boarding there since a Limited Menu Lunch is served after Springfield.

Generally #22 is "Out" of most food items upon reaching STL because the Eagle has to carry everything needed in the Diner for the Round Trip from CHI-SAS-CHI since there is no Commissary on this Route.

They were boarding 22 well before 7 since we connected the 322 Coach around 6AM. Last call on the train for passengers to leave the train was around 8:15 or 8:20 then we departed shortly after.
