I have also enjoyed cab rides in E-8’s and E-9’s. Those were the “Cadillacs” of the early passenger locomotives. They rode like a Pullman, especially compared with other locomotives.
I loved hearing the “chant” of those twin 567’s, especially when they went into transition from series to parallel...
And they are pretty spry even for their age now. They didn't have any problem moving all 15 cars at 60 mph with just one B unit. Oh was it a nice day. I'll have to find pictures to post later on.
