Todays TE#22/Eating in Style!!!

According to trainorders. com todays #22 left SAS 2 hours down due to a Bad Ordered CCC (serves as the Diner on this Train!) and also the Sleeper was Bad Ordered, but a "Spare" was available and hooked up!

According to this post, Breakfast consisted of boxed food like Sleeper pax used to get when the Food service crew layed over in Austin. Coach pax used the Cafe in the Sightseer Lounge!

Lunch was Sandwiches loaded from Subway for the Sleeping Car pax, Cafe chow again for the Coachites!(Was originaly supposed to be Bar-B-Q from some joint in FTW!!)Dinner was Sandwiches again from Jimmy Johns, Cafe again for the Coachies!

Breakfast is supposed to be served in the Sightseer Lounge in the morning to all pax,Lunch will be picked up in STL and will be abbreviated service, again Cafe Fare for the Coachies!(if they ever get there, they are down on OTP with the Ozarks to come! )

There is no mention of what happened to the CCC or Sleeper in SAS, hopefully the SAS Maintence Crew can fix any problems, its not like Amtrak has extra Sleepers and Diners/CCCs sittting around anywhere! :help:

There is no mention of what happened to the CCC or Sleeper in SAS, hopefully the SAS Maintence Crew can fix any poroblems, its not like Amtrak has extra Sleepers and Diners/CCCs sittting around anywhere! :help:

There are usually a few CCCs in CHI.

Good thought Steve! Cant you just picture the Drama Queens dealing with this situation on the Eagle! Maybe you lucked out on the way home after all, even if the Waitperson from Hell was in the CCC!!!

Im sure they will Jay! A previous poster said they have spare (wonder why? )CCCs in CHI, and the food on the CONO is always pretty good even if they do call it "The Chicken Bone Express"! ^_^

When I was through Chicago about 3 weeks ago, I saw a string of 5 CCCs waiting patiently for somewhere to go.

In is the "chicken bone express" because of the food brought on board by the riders, not the food served on the train. The City of New Orleans is by both schedule and customres more like the Louisiane than either the City of New Orleans or the Panama Limited. Quite often in the 50's and early 60's the Memphis northbound boardings / southbound arrivals to/from the Louisiana woule exceed those on the CNO. The Panama in those days was all sleepers and served a customer base that now flies.
