The letter 'a' went missing above on its second opportunity in Rappahannock.

New, Croton and Portage have all received river names.

I still find it curious that they'd skip Trenton, a city that Viewliners actually visit in favor of some of the other city names. Makes one go "hmm"

Can't wait to see the other 25 named after Honolulu, Juneau(Oops,Sarah Palin brain fart!) and the other 23 State Capitols once Amtrak becomes a True National Passenger Railroad !

I guess if Hawaii can have an interstate highway, it could have trans-pacific Amtrak rail service too. :D
The Los Angeles to Honolulu Polynesian Zephyr will be equipped with Submarineliners (built by a consortium of CAF and Nippon-Sharyo), not Viewliners. So we're off topic. :)

The list of sleepers clearly calls for exercising the CAF option order to remedy the imbalance between sleepers in (or soon to enter) the fleet and potential names thereof.

The list of rivers not yet assigned cars includes the Cumberland, Tennessee, Illinois, Missouri, Yellowstone, Platte, Arkansas, Red, Rio Grande, Colorado, Columbia, Willamette, Snake, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Gila, among others, not to mention the St Lawrence, Suwannee, Allegheny and Monongahela, and in Texas alone, the Sabine, Neches, Trinity, San Jacinto, Brazos, Colorado, Guadalupe, San Antonio, Nueces, Pecos and others. That could keep them busy in Elmira for a while!
