What is it like sleeping in the Coach car?

Oddly enough I actually find airline window seats in coach to be more conducive for sleeping than Amtrak coach.

Ditto. The winged headrests help a lot, and the wall is close enough to lean against if you have a window seat.

True enough but what about the poor smucks in the middle and on the aisle seats?

I'd much rather be in a Superliner Coach seat than on an overnight Coach flight! YMMV
