What's this car

This is a westbound passenger train on Sand Patch grade in August 1991 cropped from a portrait orientation slide. I am assuming that it is the Capitol Limited as it was back then with dome cars. I am curious about the last car with the "bay window" in the back and the trapezoidal doodad on the roof rear end. It appears to have the same paint scheme as the other cars. Can anyone help?

More specifically, that's 10001 - generally used by Amtrak bigwigs for travel. More info here.

I don't think the Capitol normally ran with more than one dome car in the consist, so I'd guess that at least the second dome, as well the two cars at the end, are part of some special move.

The Capitol didn't get Superliners until the Superliner IIs came in the early 1990s. The Capitol ran domes until then.

And after the Capitol converted to Superliner cars, its domes ran on the Lake Shore Limited for a year or two, though only west of Albany.
