Gee and to think these cars are only 6-7 Years Old.
Aren't the Viewliners run entirely off computers. Why can't we build simple rail cars like Budd and Pullman did over 60 years ago. If we just take the origional plans and modify them with new materials and fabrics we could have some pretty nice and long lasting rail cars. No computers, no TV's, no entertainment, just a room and a window. B)
I think the rooms need the TV, for those non railfans to enjoy the trip. Some of the computers probably could be removed as long as the car can still function. But we need to build not simple but Durable Cars like those of Pullman and Budd. Also we need to build cars with more deluxe rooms. Thats where your plans for a fleet can come in. B)

Yes, we definetly need more deluxe rooms, I also hope that the cost will go down. Right now a round trip to Florida in a Deluxe for 2 adults is $1400.  <_< ;)
I know, I take one every year on the Silver Meteor. :)

I hear what everyone is saying!!

I try to do the best job I can within my 8 hours and with what parts are available.

There are always a part that has to be removed from another car, but the worst problem is no quality assurance of the work being performed. Some folks make a differance, while others look the other way knowing someone else will get stuck with it.

I got a similar situation going on right now!!! An electrician tried to duck a door motor replacement saying that the doortrack was bad. He had the car Sunday and it was allowed to go with the defect. Tonight he tried to get the car cut from the consist. We just spent 4hrs replacing the doortrack and the problem remained the same. It's 2am and the guy who screwed us is trying to change the motor assy in 45 minutes. You don't get good work when your'e in a rush.

It's hard working here and trying to maintain a good work ethic! You get tired of doing other people's work and being taken advantage of.
